Cold Light of Day

What a miserable morning.  It is wet, windy and just dreich. Where is this heatwave predicted? Has it gone the same way as the fresh dawn after our great win over Stoke? Full of false promises.

Lets face it, Bruce has now spent a small fortune or for us normal folk a huge fortune. This team has to be classed as his. Yes we do have striking problems with Gyan leaving after the window closed but you need 3 front line strikers, to cover injures, bans, etc. If it was true that Gyan has been pressing to leave since the beginning of the year, Bendtner was his replacement not Bent's or Welbecks. So who is at fault that we are still short of strikers?

People say give the team time to settle in, we have bough so many new players. When we had so many loanees that was always going to a problem. Should we of had so many last year? Should we not of  had a few so that this season we would be adding to the basis of a team, not building a new one? Under Bruce how many teams have we had now, 3? Each year he seems to be throwing in a huge pile of new players in the hope something will emerge. Last season it was a glut of central defensive players, most of whom have gone or are hidden away like Kilgallon. Why was he ever bought? This season it is midfielders and forwards too young for PL regulars.

Yes we have actually bought a left sided player in McClean but no left back. Why do we need one when we Richardson, remember last season Bruce called for him to play for England in that position. Did he look like a international left back last night? How many of his passes where to our players? I know he went and spoilt it all by scoring but in how many games will he do that?

Two nil down, what was Bruce's plan B? Take off the one player who can cross, put on 3 six ft plus forwards and leave Elmo on who can't cross a ball. Did he think, Larsson, right sided winger who can cross, take Elmo off. Put on McClean a left sided winger who we hope can cross or why else buy him. We would then have 2 players who can put balls into the big guy.
,
Where do we go from here? It is not as simple as it sounds. I think we have the players to make a decent fist of it this season, with a striker brought in January. I will nail my flag to the mast, I want Bruce out. The only question is when? I think there is no point in sacking him now unless we have a replacement. My prefered manager would be Moyes. For very little money he has worked wonders at Everton. Moyes is a man of principle, would he leave Everton at this time. A club he must love, who are in big trouble and would find it hard to get a new manager in just now. He might of moved in the summer or maybe next summer but after the season has started, maybe not.

The other two are the old faithful's O'Neil & Hughes. I think of the two I would prefer O'Neil and I think he would do a good job , he would keep us up. Would he be able to build on it, I am not 100% sure. Hughes I have never liked but I think he would do a good job but neither excites me. I am 59 and seen many new exciting managers come and then go after failing. Maybe no new manager would excite me, maybe been a supporter far too long to be excited.

OK Saturday. West Brom. maybe i will save that for later on in the week for another blog. I will say one thing. Never take your frustrations out on the players when they are on the pitch or off it. Yes at Bruce, after the game. Tell Quinn & Short how you feel but we must cheer the lads on. It is our club, no one else's, we must support it and them. If they don't play for us who will they play for?

So
Ha'wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy the Lads
