Normal Service Resumes

Sat here with blackness outside after a lovely sunny day. Well sunny but cold as we had the wind again. What would life be up here without the wind? You can feel that winter is definitely around the corner, as is having the yellow ball back again.

It has been a long 2 weeks since the Man U game, its almost hard to remember what happened. Mind I have been into hospital since, so had other things to think of and worry about. Also it was my youngest granddaughter's birthday, Katelyn was one. That was a happy but tiring day.

There has been two worrying rumours this week, football ones. The first is connected with Sess, his family have not settled here, his children are still in France and so at every opportunity he flies with his wife back to Paris. Hearing this it comes as no surprise that he wants to go back to France. Hard to accept but if his family can't settle in the NE then how can we blame him.

The next is Bendtner, he wants Champions league football. Has he proved that he is of that standard? He is only on loan and so should we expect him to sign for us at the end of the season? I hoped maybe that he would, if he had proved his worth; expected it, no. That is the problem with loan players, we found that out last season.

Where does this leave us then. Well at least 2 short just to stand still, one in January maybe and one in May. If Sess goes then we need to buy a creative player to replace him, someone who can play off the front player and can also score. That player will be hard to find, especially in January and expensive.

The forward line will look its usual bare self. We will have 4 youngsters, Ji, Wickham, Campbell & Noble. Young Ryan proved that he could be back to where he was a couple of seasons ago, scoring I think over 30 goals for the youngsters & reserves. His 3 goals against the Mags last night should win him a place on the bench. No matter that we will have 4 forwards, we will still need at least one experienced strikers to take some of the burden & help the lads come on.

Anyway back to Saturday. Fulham will not be easy for us, they seem to have the same form as we have. but I am still hoping for a win. We have only won once at home and Fulham won once away. If I was a betting man then I would go for a draw.

Larsson is out this week and we don't have a replacement for him. I think everyone else is fit. So the team, Westwood, O'Shea, Brown, Turner, Richardson, Elmo, Vaughan, Colback, Sess, Ji & Bendtner. Our usual shortage of a left sided player leaves us vulnerably there and apart from Elmo who else can play on the right. Yes I know his crossing is not great and he tends to run into brick walls but who else?

I was a little disturbed by the rumoured view of the S Korean coach on Ji, that he was not fit and was slow. If true what dos that say about our training methods or was it that he was just lacking match fitness? He has not played much, spent most of his time on the bench.

Oh well here goes, another Saturday and not certain of what is going to happen. Or to rephrase it, another normal Saturday for a Sunderland supporter.
