A Bright View from up North

Hello again from a bright Caithness. From a misty, dreich morning, it is a brighter afternoon. A pleasant change from the wind and rain. Maybe it will stay nice before it is back into hospital for me on Wednesday for a couple of days for tests. I want them to find something but not what they are looking for, if that makes sense.

Anyway lets get to the big test, Man Utd away. Not a great prospect, is it? We have not won against them since 2000, so tomorrow will be a hard task. Also leading against Man Utd does not help, they get so many last minute goals, especially against us. With these stats and that they will still be smarting for that defeat against City, I would be happy with a draw, maybe 2-2.

The team has to change due to the injuries to Mignolet, O'Shea and maybe Vaughan. We should not have too much problems in goal, Westwood should just slot in. He has good experience as a first team & international player. Bardsley slipping into his correct slot at right back, again he should be OK.

If  Vaughan is injured, who should we have in midfield? Gardner, Catts or Meyler. I think for this game Catts would be my choice as he would give us more bite in midfield. We need to knock Utd off their stride if we can.

Do we go for 2 upfront or 1, Bendtner? The argument for 2 is attack is the best policy. To sit back and let then attack you could be fatal, they would be sure to score against you. Having Wickham up front would also be a handful for Utd and would he not love to score against them. They have proved to be suspect at the back and with Wickham getting into them, might prove to be the decider.

The counter argument is that without 5 in midfield we could get overrun. If we do, game over, lets go home. Also why not get someone of the bench, where he has been since almost the start of the season, McClean. Move Colback into the left side of midfield and play a natural left winger. What do you think, a step too far for a young lad? If so, then Gardner as he is meant to be able to score from midfield. I would not be upset at Meyler in for either Gardner or Catts. He would not disgrace us and it would be great to see him start for us after such a long time out. You should also hear him singing on Twitter, he is definitely one of us.

I would go 4-4-1-1, with the option in the 2nd half to change to 4-4-2. Lets hope we turn up and give them a game. There is no shame if we lose against a team like Man U if you play well. It is the defeats that we have to view and we meekly stand back and ask them to score against us. I remember being at Chelsea and having to sing 'give us a shot'. So lets do what we do best as supporters and

Sing Ya Hearts Out For The Lads.
